The Selkirk Incorporation of Hammermen is an non-registered charitable organisation which delivers the following objectives:
The membership (by small subscription) is composed of crafts persons and trainees belonging to the following trades:
Masons, Joiners, Plumbers, Slaters, Blacksmiths, Engineers, Motor Mechanics, Plasterers, Printers and Painters.
In partnership with the Weavers Corporation, the craft forms half of the United Crafts Incorporation which is responsible for the running of the United Crafts Dinner held one week before the Common Riding and the Annual Bussin' Concert held on the 'Nicht Afore the Morn'.
The Hammermen also run a Foy held after the casting of the Colours on the Common Riding Day and an Annual Burns Supper.
- To take part in the time-honoured annual observance of the Common Riding by selecting a Standard Bearer who meets the membership criteria, walking at the head of the procession, and casting the flag of the Incorporation.
- To take part in any other demonstration, community project or fund raising scheme the committee may approve of.
- To relieve deserving members by granting small donations.
